It is time to talk about Cabeção.

A difficult task since there are so many things to say and to show. Today, I am going to talk about the water element of this beautiful parish.

Let me start by welcoming you to Cabeção, the land where the most fascinating thing is for me the waterscapes. It is, in the municipality of Mora, the preferred destination of those who enjoy water.  We can just contemplate or in alternative we can dive, swim, paddle or go fishing.

Along my wanderings around this area I have been photographing what I have seen over the years and which I am now sharing my pictures with you.

The houses, seen from afar, hide its treasures from our eyes.

Here it is the Stream of Raia, like a mirror reflecting in its riverbed all the surrounding beauty.

In rainy winters its waters run in torrent and sometimes cover the old bridge.

In the summer, it offers us its freshness.

Speaking of water, let me introduce you to Gameiro's Dam. I have many memories of warm  spring and summer afternoons spent with family and friends swiming and playing on this river beach.

I highly recommend it as an excellent weekend or holiday program.

And right next to it the footbridge that invites you to long walks to enjoy the landscape, the fauna and flora. Walking slowly with long stops and in good company or on a lonely walk, you will have much to see along the 1.5 km of this footbridge, followed by 1.4 km of trail by the riverside zone and 2.5 km by the forest.

Do not miss a visit to the Water Mills, a testimony to the primitive or old milling systems that we  can still find in the region.

The mills are harmoniously integrated in an peaceful landscape, a place where we can say the time passes very slowly and all sounds appeal to the senses and to fully enjoy nature.

 To be continued.
Do not miss Part II of this visit to Cabeção.
